Working With a Foreclosures Defense Law Firm

The video starts with Troy Doucet saying he will address the question, ”How much does a foreclosure defense lawyer cost?” He says there are four different levels of foreclosure lawyers out there, and the cost will depend on the kind of lawyer one hires. The first type will typically charge a flat fee of between $1,200 and $2,500 to defend foreclosure. In Troy’s experience, such lawyers probably don’t have much experience with foreclosure defense.
The second level of attorney will typically charge between $300 and $500 a month. Troy says that one should also avoid these lawyers.

While they may know more about foreclosure defense and list it as a practice area, the low dollar amount means they count on a volume of clients to make sufficient income. One will only get an hour or two a month with the attorney.
The third foreclosure defense law firm charges between $800 to $2,000 monthly. The property’s value typically determines the amount Troy says the payments go toward litigating cases, conducting discovery, a thorough intake, understanding claims and defenses, and generating as much leverage for the client.
The last type of foreclosure defense firm is more of a bankruptcy law firm. One can expect to pay a one-time fee of about $600 – $1,200 upfront for help filing bankruptcy. It’s an ideal option if one’s debts amount to 50% of their annual income.
